How to Define Your

Ideal Customer &

Target Audience

Effectively identify your target audience so you are in the best position to speak to, and attract, your perfect client.

Let's Find Your Vibe

Think About a Few Things...

Think about yourself...

What attracted YOU to the business/product you've started?

-Time or financial freedom

-Learning a new skill or insight to build on

-Some extra side income

-Etc.

Make a list of your top reasons!

What brought you pain...

Think about the pain points (uncomfortable or stressful things before you made a change).

-Toxic job

-Too much debt/bills

-Not enough time with family

-Not enough clients or customers

You'll be surprised to know that a lot of people share the same pains and stresses that you do!

Let's combine...

Take your reason for starting ( Your WHY) and your stress (Your PAIN) and now we're going to plug them into this formula:

PAIN + WHY = SOLUTION

Try this prompt:

I had (PAIN). I (intro to how you found the business/product) and (saw how it could give me WHY/reason). I took a chance on myself, and now I've been able to get rid of (PAIN) and (WHY/Reason impact on other people)!

I had no time for my family, and felt like we would never get ahead on our bills! I saw a girl on Instagram talking about Digital Marketing and how it had gotten her back home with her kids!

I took a chance on myself, and now I've been able to quit my second job and pay down our credit card debt, while helping other moms do the same!

But Nicole is it REALLY that simple?

It is!

But being simple doesn't make it easy.

You'll have a little trial and error as you find your voice and the optimum way to speak to your target audience.

Not everyone will resonate with you- and that's OK! You can't be everyone's sip of orange-vod-juice-ka and sometimes you just won't jive with someone.

Now here's something:

You need to take time to plan. Especially if you are going to utilize social media when it comes to attracting your audience.

You'll want to post engaging content that is light and educational. The days of heavy-hitting sales tactics are over (unless you're going on a time-share trip).

I like to break my content down into three simple categories:

-Education

-Endurement

-Entertainment

Think about the person you are trying to attract and weave that thought through those three lenses.

So You've Nailed Down WHO You Want To Speak To But Now We Need To Attract Them

What is your ideal client looking for? What do they want?

Honestly, they have a problem and they're trying to fix it. You need to market in a way that offers a solution. Simple, right?

Remember when we talked about the pain? Your ideal client is most likely going through the same thing.

Let's run through some scenarios:

Your target audience: busy moms who are working to help support the family, but want to get their time back with their kids, specifically moms in their 30's with younger children who are going through milestones that the moms are missing because of that dang J.O.B.

Pain points: Young kids that she is missing time with, guilt for not feeling like she's there enough, feeling like a possible failure BECAUSE she's missing so much time, still wants to contribute to the family but from work-from-home, feelings of not being good enough.

It's awful, right? But hits close to the heart.

Solution: Digital marketing business that will allow flexibility in schedule with minimal time commitment after everything is set up, self-paced training and full 24/7 support, ability to make 5+ figures from home, travel-friendly/ work from anywhere, full community that celebrates every win!

Content Ideas (Reels):

I just threw those out, but you get the idea. The content should target your ideal client, express a pain point, and offer a solution.

You Have The Info, Now START

All content creators face the same paralyzing moments as you:

  • Fear of showing their faces

  • Self-doubt

  • Overwhelmed

  • Worry that they don't have enough experience

  • Building trust & credibility with your audience

  • Builing a following

The good news is...

Now, I know a lot of those fears are social media based, because the rule of perfection is that it only exists as an idea, but once you get past the first-post jitters it'll be A LOT easier!

Here are a couple tips for posting:

1. Don't overthink it.

Well that's easy to say... It is, and don't do it. Just make your glorious content and post it without scrutinizing every. single. inch.

Now, I'm not saying don't check the background, because we've all seen those secondhand-embarressment posts, but don't over-analyze it.

2. Don't compare yourself to other people in your field.

Everyone is on their own journey; some move faster than others, some seem to connect better than others, etc.

It doesn't matter- they are NOT YOU.

So do you and keep some healthy blinders on along the way.

3. Don't care about the thoughts of others.

Simple? Yep! Terrifying anyway? YEP!

Look, no one likes being picked apart (unless you're Angela from "The Office" who holds up well to even servere scrutiny) so it is understandable that you are afraid of that.

But post anyway.

Fight for your dreams anyway.

The only people who are going to say nay are the nay-sayers and nay is for horses. Or is it donkeys?

Look, if someone is trying to bring you down, they are already beneath your standards and your goals. They're too small for you.

They are also donkeys.

You, my dear reader, are a thoroughbred.

It's About Support, Community, & Being YOU

At the end of the day, it seems a little arbitrary: Connecting with people, being yourself, finding clients through reels that they may or may not like.

But I can say that if you be the authentic you, people will respond. That if you put in the time and effort to be a good mentor to people you take under your wing (even if you are just starting out too and don't know everything!), and let them know that you are here to help them reach their goals, that you will succeed.

All of us need each of us. We get better by lifting others up.

It's plain human nature. We grow better, together.

Contact Me

Hi!

My name is actually Nicole, I didn't give you an alias.

I'm a cat mom, dog mom, kid mom, and wife. My hobbies include basically what you see in the upcoming picture of me (Unless you're on your computer, then you see it to the side).

If you've watched my videos, you've probably glimpsed my livingroom-turned-library.

I enjoy time with my family, rescuing books from used places, and trying to convince my husband that we should open a cat sanctuary.

He hasn't gone for it. Yet...

Digital marketing has become one of my passions.

I like seeing people happy and succedding. I get proud mom butterflies when one of my customers say that they made their first sale and there is nothing better than knowing that someone's life is about to change completely! All because of the online space!

Not to get too long winded- although it is windy where I live- I hope you every bit of success and achievement in your journey. The fact that you are taking steps to change your situation says volumes about your character, and you deserve to achieve every dream you're working towards!
